Welcome back to The ERP Advisor!

In our previous edition, we explored how to measure and maximize the return on your ERP investment.
This week, we’ll take that one step further — by looking at how ERP analytics and dashboards can help you make smarter, faster, and data-driven business decisions.

Why ERP Data Matters More Than Ever

Modern businesses generate more data than ever — sales, inventory, production, customers, finances, and more.
But raw data alone isn’t valuable. The real power lies in how you use that data to make decisions.
Your ERP system already holds this data. The secret is unlocking it through analytics and dashboards that tell your business story in real time.

The Role of Analytics in ERP

Analytics transforms numbers into insights.
With ERP analytics, you can:
  • Identify sales trends and customer behaviors
  • Track real-time inventory performance
  • Monitor production efficiency
  • Compare actual vs. projected results
  • Predict future demand or bottlenecks
In short, ERP analytics helps you move from “what happened” to “what will happen next.

Dashboards: The Window Into Your Business

A great ERP dashboard gives you instant visibility into your operations.
It helps you monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) at a glance — no more waiting for reports.
Key dashboard examples:
  • Executive Dashboard: Profit margins, revenue growth, overall performance
  • Sales Dashboard: Leads, conversion rates, customer lifetime value
  • Inventory Dashboard: Stock levels, reorder alerts, turnover rate
  • Finance Dashboard: Cash flow, receivables, payables, and budget tracking
Your dashboard should give clarity, not clutter — focus on what drives action.

Setting Up KPIs That Matter

Choosing the right KPIs is essential. Each department should focus on metrics that align with company goals:
  • Finance: Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), cost of goods sold, gross margin
  • Operations: Production cycle time, on-time delivery rate
  • Sales: Pipeline value, average deal size, win rate
  • Customer Service: Response time, satisfaction score
Start small — track a few meaningful KPIs before expanding to more complex analytics.

From Reporting to Intelligence

Basic ERP reporting tells you what happened.
Advanced ERP analytics tells you why it happened and what to do next.
Modern ERP systems (like Odoo, SAP, or NetSuite) include tools like:
  • Customizable dashboards
  • Drill-down reports
  • Forecasting and predictive analytics
  • Integration with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
Combine ERP data with BI tools to uncover deeper patterns and make strategic moves with confidence.
Turning Insights Into Action
Data is only powerful if it drives change.
Use insights from ERP dashboards to:
  • Adjust inventory levels and reorder strategies
  • Realign sales targets and marketing focus
  • Improve production planning and reduce waste
  • Support long-term strategic planning
The goal is not just to visualize — it’s to act.
